Positive Mood: Natural Remedies for Anxiety and Depression
| December 24, 2013This past Saturday marked the Winter Solstice , the day of the year when we experience the fewest hours of daylight. From this point on until June 21, 2014, our days will grow longer but with less daylight, our nights will grow shorter, and temperatures will drop. It’s winter, and the combination of the cold and lack of light takes a toll on many of us — Seasonal Affective Disorder, stress, depression and other very real challenges to feeling uplifted and inspired.
There are many natural remedies I use to effect how the brain sends signals so negative emotions are more easily processed. The right amounts of nutrients can very often allow people with depression and anxiety to not need synthetic drugs , or at the very least minimize their need, so they can enjoy much better results on smaller amounts of medication.
B vitamins are critical to dealing with stress and allowing the Adrenal gland to function better. I designed Energy B to specifically support demands feeling less overwhelming. B6 Supreme is an aid to encourage Serotonin (a neurotransmitter) that facilitates emotional balance.
Calming I is a formula of Theanine which is an amino acid that has no side effects and can reduce mild to moderate anxiety.
5 HTP is very beneficial for depression and insomnia. I have found taking 1 or 2 Healthy Mood I capsules at night can help someone both sleep better and feel profoundly less depressed during the day.
Sometimes I also use SaMe in addition to 5 HTP. Healthy Mood II was designed for encourage positive feelings. While SaMe also effects the joints and inflammations, I use 400-800mg per day for clients of all ages with great results.
I use the above remedies in the service of eating much less and sometimes absolutely no white sugar, white flour, alcohol until a person’s mood is stabilized. Sometimes I use Super Vegan Protein Shake as a mid morning and or mid afternoon drink to keep the blood sugar levels steady.
This dark time of year is often challenging for our minds and hearts for many reasons. Consider learning more about what your brain and body might need to more fully experience the LIGHT.
Thank you for letting me share this with you, and please share this with others you know to help ease their suffering.
